Tulpehocken Area School District > Business Office > Installment payments for real estate taxes

In accordance with Act 1 of 2006, the Board of School Directors adopted a resolution to offer approved taxpayers the option to pay their real estate taxes on an installment basis.

The details of the plan are listed below.

Taxpayers with an approved homestead or farmstead property pursuant to Section 341 of Act 1 (“eligible district taxpayers”) shall be eligible to pay school real property taxes in installments.

Effective July 1, 2007, for fiscal year 2007-08, and each fiscal year thereafter, unless changed by subsequent official Board action, eligible district taxpayers may elect to pay their school real property taxes in three equal installments due on or before the following dates in each applicable fiscal year:

First installment:          Due on or before July 31st

Second installment:      Due on or before September 15th

Third installment:          Due on or before October 31st

Should any of the above dates fall on a weekend or officially declared holiday, the installment payment shall not be due until the close of the business of the next weekday.

The payment of the first installment by eligible district taxpayers on or before July 31st of the applicable fiscal year shall be evidence as an intention to pay the school real property taxes on the installment basis.  Failure to make payment of the first installment by July 31st of the applicable fiscal year shall conclusively evidence an intention not to pay on the installment plan.  Two additional coupons will be mailed to the taxpayer if the taxpayer elects to pay the school real property taxes on an installment basis.

If an eligible district taxpayer elects to pay the school real property taxes on an installment basis, there shall be no abatement or discount allowed on the school real property taxes.

If an eligible district taxpayer elects to pay the school real property taxes on an installment basis and fails to pay the second and third installment by the applicable due date, said payment shall be considered delinquent and subject to a 10% penalty which shall be added to the delinquent installment and shall be collected by the tax collector.

Where an eligible district taxpayer fails to evidence an intention to pay on the installment plan, the school real property taxes shall become due and payable in full, subject to discounts and penalties.
