Tulpehocken Area School District
Bethel and Penn-Bernville Elementary School Counseling Department
Hello Tulpehocken Families!
It has been a great start to the 2018-2019 school year!
The elementary counseling department has been able to teach lessons in September and October. September’s lesson focused on No Place for Hate, and the importance of showing other respect both in school and at home. October’s lesson was for Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon lessons are co-taught with Mr. Baer during gym. We discussed the importance of keep safe with germs and universal precautions in grades K-3 and cause/effect in regards to our actions with grades 4-6. 5th and 6th grade also participated in a
technology presentation through the Council on Chemical Abuse, which focused on
online safety and cyber bullying. We will continue to teach lessons once a
month until March 2019, along with two more No Place for Hate projects. In our
lessons to come, we will be collaborating with specialists to help our students
become career and college ready!
To continue the push for career and college readiness, 5th
and 6th grade students will be traveling to the Junior/Senior High
School in November to participate in a Post-Secondary fair. Students will be
able to explore options in careers, colleges, military, etc. Our goal is not to
push students to make a decision, but to open their eyes at a young age to all
of the options out there. The counseling department will continue to plan fun
interactive activities to help this push for our students to be career and
college ready. If you have any ideas for activities, please do not hesitate to
reach out to the counseling department! We would love to collaborate!
We will continue to update our site quarterly with new information
throughout the school year.
