Tulpehocken Area School Board
A nine-member board governs the Tulpehocken Area School District. The board of directors is comprised of area residents with representatives from each region including three representatives from Penn Township and Bernville Borough, three representatives from Jefferson Township and Tulpehocken Township, and three representatives from Bethel Township.  Board meetings are open to the public.  Only residents of the district may address the board.  All attendees are required to sign in with the recording secretary.
 
Board Agendas:  Agendas are posted the Friday before each board meeting. Meetings are generally held in the District Office Board Room on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.  Special meetings are advertised in the Reading Eagle.
 
Board Minutes: Minutes are generally posted on the website following board approval which typically occurs at the next board meeting.  For example, the minutes from the April 1, 2008 board meeting will be posted on April 16, 2008.
 

Board of Directors

Kyle Batz - Jefferson and Tulpehocken Townships 
Kyle Batz is a 2002 graduate of Tulpehocken Area School District and has continued to live in Tulpehocken township with his family. He has a daughter and son in the Tulpehocken School District. He is a project manager for a local Intermediate Unit for 16 years.   Kyle along with his family are also local business owners. His hobbies include snowmobiling, watersports, and spending time with his family at the beach and the family cabin. 
 
Chris Heck – Jefferson and Tulpehocken Townships
Chris Heck is serving his third term as a school board member.  He is a Tulpehocken graduate and is employed as an HVAC Technician.  Chris resides in Tulpehocken Township with his wife and two children.
 
April Klopp - Secretary - Bethel Township
April Klopp has lived in Bethel for 31 years and has two boys that attended and graduated from Tulpehocken Area School District. April and her husband are business owners and active community members. April served seven years as a PTO officer and served on the Tulpehocken Education Foundation Board of Directors. She enjoys spending time with her family and their dog.
 
Matthew Lytle  - Penn Township
Matt has lived in the Bernville area with his wife Kara and his four daughters for 17 years. His three oldest daughters are attending Tulpehocken at both the Penn Bernville Elementary School and the Junior/Senior High School. Matt was a graduate of Wyomissing High School and the University Of Pittsburgh. After college, he spent four years as a Quarter Back in the NFL (National Football League). He currently works in the Medical field and is always looking to grow and develop professionally. Matt enjoys spending time with his family on his farm, exercise/nutrition, sports, and being involved at his church. He is also the owner of QBPskills.com which focuses on leadership, fundamentals, and development in both Football and Baseball. 
 
Oscar J. Manbeck – President - Bethel Township
Oscar Manbeck has served on the Tulpehocken Area School District Board of Directors for 36 years.  He has served as President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and as Negotiations Committee Chair.  Oscar has also represented the District on the Berks Career and Technology Center's Joint Operating Committee for 20 years and the Berks County Intermediate Unit Board for 2 years.  Oscar and his wife are farmers and live in Bethel.
 
William T. Palmer, Jr. – Vice President - Penn Township and Bernville Borough
William Palmer has served on the Tulpehocken Area School District Board of Directors for 13 years.  He is a graduate of Tulpehocken.  William and his wife are farmers and live in Penn Township.
 
Kristan Rissmiller - Penn Township
Kristan Rissmiller is joyfully married to her husband and has lived in Penn Township 15 years. She was born and raised in Exeter Township and graduated from Liberty University. She has 1 son and 1 daughter who graduated from Tulpehocken. She appreciates a small, farming community and their work ethic and how we can all get to know each other and work together. She works part time for a medical office and full time for her family! She believes that being on the school board is a service to her neighbors and the community. She enjoys having fun with her family and watching them learn and flourish! She also enjoys being outside, water skiing, gardening projects, being with her husband, animals, and various church activities. 
 
Anthony Rodig – Treasurer - Jefferson and Tulpehocken Townships
Anthony Rodig has been employed by a content and publishing company as an IT Infrastructure Engineer for the last 22 years.  His 29 year Air Force career consists of seven years of active duty and 22 years with the Air National Guard, where he still serves today.  He leads in his Church’s men’s group and provides technology support.   He is a graduate of Westminster High School (Maryland) and Carroll Country Career and Technology Center.  His post-secondary background includes the Community College of the Air Force with an AAS degrees in Aircraft Maintenance and Information Systems, Burlington County College with an AS degree in Business Administration, and Albright College with BS in Information Systems as well as a host of industry certifications and professional military education. His hobbies include amateur investing, helping on his neighbors farm, and home repair projects.  Anthony and his family have lived in Jefferson Township for 17 years where they have two children who have graduated from the district.
 
Daniel Steinhauer - Bethel Township
Daniel Steinhauer is a 1982 graduate of Tulpehocken Area School District.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1982 - 1986.  He is employed by Binkley & Hurst and enjoys raising his own food.  He has been happily married for 36 years and has two children.
