Mrs. Susan Burns, School Counselor - Grades 7-9

Mrs. Burns is the Counselor for grades 7-9 and has been with the Tulpehocken Area School District since 1999. A former New York City native, Susan earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Brooklyn College, part of the City of New York University system. She went on to complete her Master’s in Social Work (MSW) at New York University, and worked as a Psychiatric Social Worker in NYC for 6 years before relocating to Pennsylvania. She spent 10 years with Philhaven Behavioral Health as a mental health therapist prior to earning her certification from Millersville University in Secondary School Counseling. Susan is a member of the Jr. High Student Assistance Program (SAP), and works closely with the Junior High teaching staff and principals. When away from school, Susan enjoys spending time with her husband and son, going for walks, and reading a good book!

Mrs. Danette Seidel, Bethel Elementary School Counselor

Mrs. Seidel is the Elementary School Counselor at Bethel Elementary. She has her bachelor's degree in psychology from Albright College, and her Master's of Education degree from Kutztown University. Danette has also completed a second Master's from Gratz College. Danette is a member of Bethel's Student Assistance Program (SAP) and a member of their Response to Intervention and Instruction (RTII) team. When not at school, Danette enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids.

Mrs. Leslie Shaud, Penn-Bernville Elementary School Counselor

Mrs. Shaud is the Elementary School Counselor at Penn-Bernville Elementary School. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University, and her Masters of Education in Counseling Education from West Chester University, certified K-12, CACREP program. Leslie is a member of Penn-Bernville’s Student Assistance Program (SAP) and a member of their Response to Intervention and Instruction (RTII) team. Prior to becoming a school counselor, Leslie worked as a Foster Care Coordinator and an Autistic Support Paraprofessional at Bethel Elementary.  In Leslie’s free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, crafting, and being outside. She is excited to continue her career at Tulpehocken Area School District!
