August 2013 - Fall Edition

Kayle Huey, 2014, won a Gold Medal at the PA Indoor Field Hockey Championship/Keystone Winter Games High School Blue Division held in Scranton on February 16th. Kayle is a goalkeeper for High Styx, who took home the Gold Medal.


Katie Shirk, 2012, Jonathan Pierson, 2013, Catie Walsh, 2017, are budding authors. They have written or created books that are available for purchase. If you are interested in learning more about these books, please contact the JSHS office for more information.


Pvt. Morgen Weiant, 2012, graduated from Basic Training at Fort Sill, OK on February 8, 2013. She was in the top 10% of her class. She has transferred to Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri for her AIT (Advanced Individual Training) in Geospatial Engineering. Upon her return home, she will be attending Lock Haven University in the fall and serving in the Army National Guard. We had a great time on our trip. Graduation was awesome. We asked Morgen if she was glad she made the choice to go into the National Guard and she said “yes”. We are very proud grandparents!!! Doug & Becky


Thirteen Boy Scouts from Troop 489, Rehrersburg/Bethel area completed a 50-mile bike hike on 4/20/13 in under an 8 hour time period while working towards accomplishing the Cycling Merit Badge which is quite an accomplishment. They included: Joey Bednarczyk (Grade 8), Korey Emerick (Grade 5), Matthew Emerick (Grade 7), Hunter Harris (Grade 10), Trent Johnson (Grade 8), John Kintzer (Grade 5), Sean Lape (Grade 8), Orion Maciejewski (Grade 5), Anthony Rehrer (Grade 8), Luke Ruffner (Grade 7), Zachariah Ruffner (Grade 5), Kyle Wyse (Grade 9), and Noah Wyse (Grade 6). Sarah Rehrer (Grade 6-sister of Anthony Rehrer) also participated completing 45 miles. Great job by all these Tulpy students!


Stephen Sands, 1994, had the lead in Singing in the Rain the first time Tulpy did this musical. He is now a music teacher. He recently sang backup for the Rolling Stones during their four city tour. How exciting for Stephen.


William Hunter has worked for the Tulpehocken Area School Distict in many capacities for the last 50 years.



Zach Ruffner, 2020, made it to the Wrestling Championship round of the PA Junior State Championships at the Farm Show arena in Harrisburg. He finished second.   We are very proud of his accomplishment.


Axle Seigfried, 2020, made it to the Wrestling Championship round of the PA Junior State Championships at the Farm Show arena in Harrisburg. He finished sixth We are very proud of his accomplishment..


Rachel Heberling, 2002, was the 2013 recipient of the Island Press Summer Internship. The program is a unique collaboration between students, interns, a master printer, director and fine artists.
